Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are implementing a number of guidelines to make sure that our patients and staff are kept safe at all times.

We are reducing footfall into the surgery as much as possible. We are asking that patients do not come into the surgery unless they have an appointment. Please call the surgery if you wish to book an appointment or if you have a query.

When coming into the surgery, please arrive at the exact time of your appointment. If you arrive early, we may need to ask you to wait outside and return at the time of your appointment.

Please remember to wear a face covering/PPE when coming into the surgery. Masks can be provided at our reception desk to patients who are not wearing them on arrival.

Please also follow government guidelines on social distancing. The chairs in the waiting area have been moved to allow for this.

We have increased our cleaning efforts in high touch point areas, such as the waiting room, and are providing hand sanitiser at the entrance.

Please visit our updates page here to find out more about how our practice is managing COVID-19 and information about the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

Welcome to Southmead and Henbury Family Practice

The Team here at Southmead & Henbury Family Practice are dedicated to providing our patients with the best possible health care. As a team we aim to be compassionate, courteous and respectful at all times, with a focus on enabling patients to be fully involved in their own care and treatment.

We offer personal General Practitioner and Family Medical Services. We are a long-established training Practice with around 11,400 patients, practising from two sites. Approximately two thirds of patients are registered at Southmead Health Centre, a modernised NHS-owned building which is also home to several other NHS services. Willow Tree Surgery is a Practice owned site in Henbury where one third of patients are registered and there is an independent pharmacy on site.

Southmead has developed its own Community Plan which has attracted funding from a range of sources, and we have excellent links with the Southmead Development Trust, based at the nearby Greenway Centre.

Since April 2019, like all General Practices across England, we have been part of a Primary Care network (PCN). Our PCN is Called Northern Arc and comprises Southmead & Henbury Family Practice, Pioneer Medical Group and Shirehampton Group Practice, and we look after  a total of approximately 44,000 patients between us. This is part of a wider change in the system called Intergrated Care and means that we will be working more closely to deliver services in the community with partnership organisations, for example concerning mental health and district nursing.

The PCN hosts  projects , for example Social Prescribing, Physiotherapy provision and the delivery of Public Health initiatives such as COVID 19 vaccination.  This will mean that sometimes patients are provided with primary care services at places other than their own doctor’s surgery.
