Five Ways to Wellbeing

The Government Office for Science commissioned the New Economics foundation to review ways that people can improve their mental health and wellbeing. They came up with 5 (CLANG may help you remember them):

  1. Connect- with other people- family, local community. Social isolation is a major contributor to ill health
  2. Keep Learning- throughout life, new things and ways of doing things- a hobby, a course or an interesting book
  3. Be Active- find something which you enjoy and which fits with your mobility and fitness level
  4. Take Notice- look at, and appreciate, what is around you
  5. Give-  this can be time, energy, money- looking out for how you can do someone a good turn takes you away from your own problems

We have a large collection of self help leaflets for an assortment of conditions – please ask at reception.
